Advanced Robotics at University of Washington
Welcome to Lillian Hong's Personal Fundraising Page!
As one of the very few American teams in one of the fastest growing competitions in the world, we hope you support us in pursuing our passions in robotics, our dedication to technology, and goal of winning the competition this summer in Shenzhen, China.
Our Team
The Advanced Robotics Team is an assembly of the top students at the University of Washington with focuses ranging from engineering, informatics, computer science, and business. Each of the 48 team members tirelessly dedicate hundreds of man hours to one specific goal, winning the largest international, collegiate level robotics competition, RoboMasters 2017. This competition includes over two hundred universities from all over China, battling for the title of RoboMaster.
The RoboMasters Competition
RoboMasters brings students from around the world to compete in the most advanced robotics battle. It is hosted by DJI, the world’s leading consumer drone manufacturer, and is on its way to be the most influential robotics competition to date. For the last two years, RoboMasters has electrified the world by pushing the bounds of technology innovation and combat robotics. RoboMasters 2016 brought 228 international teams to battle it out to the finals with over 6 million online viewers tuning in for the championship matches.
The Rules
What We Do
The focus of the team is to implement cutting edge technology into the design, manufacturing, and programming of an army of six infantry robots and one drone. The vehicles must meticulously perform various tasks and complete obstacles to out perform other universities in front of millions of viewers. We are developing advanced robots for the competition, utilizing neural networks to detect enemy robots, and developing control algorithms to enhance robot performance, striving for as much autonomy as possible
Our Legacy
We want to prove to China, and to the world, that our exceptional team of UW students can work together to create a team of robots worthy of winning an international competition. In the process of building a team of robots, we have built a team of talented students from a diversity of disciplines, from Computer Science to Chemical Engineering to Business, achieving what might otherwise be impossible. We aim to solve some of the hardest engineering challenges by pushing the edge of what is possible with technology, using and creating the state of the art. At the same time, we aim to improve ourselves as engineers by designing, creating, and testing engineering solutions through an iterative process until we achieve the best that we can offer.
Help Us Win!
We want to raise $26,000 in order to win the competition. With the funding, we hope to purchase more parts and equipments as well as to pay for the flight tickets to China. As one of the very few American teams in one of the fastest growing competitions in the world, we hope you support us in pursuing in our passion in robotics, our dedication to technology, and goal of winning the competition this summer in Shenzhen, China.

Midterms can't stop us from working hard in the lab! Yesterday, we held our weekly general meeting, introducing new members and sharing updates from different committees. Our project manager also surprised us with official ARUW t-shirts! After the general meeting, we headed back to lab - we have one week left to finalize our robots.
We appreciate the dedication from everyone on our team and the generous support from our community so far. Good luck to all of our members on midterms!
