UW Brotherhood Initiative Fall Leadership Summit
Welcome to Sarah Clark's Personal Fundraising Page!
Males of color are historically underrepresented and underserved in higher learning institutions and the Brotherhood Initiative has decided to take action to address this issue!
I am a graduate student in the Master's in Education Policy program am very excited to have been given the opportunity to intern with the Brotherhood Initiative!!! Through my graduate studies I have become passionate about finding actionable solutions to addressing inequities in higher education. The Brotherhood not only provides targeted programming but also creates a community that helps men of color succeed on campus and beyond. This program is going amazing work and we need your support!!!
Your contributions are greatly appreciated!
The Brotherhood Initiative
Fall Leadership Summit will be a high impact leadership and learning
experience. This last year we welcomed our first cohort of freshman males
of color into a new program that is designed to support them throughout their entire
time at UW and help them in navigating the university as well as understanding
the complexities of intersecting identities and to eliminate institutional
barriers for males of color.
For 2017-18 we are designing a program to focus on leadership for the continuing sophomore males of color as well as to welcome in a new cohort of freshman undergraduates. Our Fall Leadership Summit will be a key program in setting a foundation for support, team cohesion, and common goals that will ensure success.
Our stretch goal for this fundraiser is $10,000 which will cover all of our expenses. We are setting our realistic goal at $6,000, but we welcome you to give big!! Our cost breakdown is below.
Day 1: Sophomore launching: Welcome back for the first cohort of Brotherhood Initiative males of color as they enter their second year of college and support them in critical reflection of their first year as well as creating a strong academic plan and setting professional and personal goals for their sophomore year of college.
Night 1: Leadership Development: We will be preparing this sophomore cohort to welcome the incoming freshman cohort and to have a peer-to-peer mentorship matching.
Day 2: Welcoming the new cohort: The sophomore cohort will help design the welcome program for the freshman cohort.
Night 2: Passing the torch: the sophomore cohort will depart after dinner and the new Freshman cohort will do team building activities
Day 3: Setting goals for freshman year and beyond and go home
