Who is UWave Radio?
UWave Radio began in 2011 as a group of students who wanted their own radio station. These students held meetings in the library until securing a space on campus for online streaming in that began June 2013. UWave Radio was one of the 8 stations awarded with FCC licensing in the Seattle metropolitan area and were approved for construction of a broadcasting. We have been able to extend our construction date to allow us to launch June 2017.
What does UWave provide its members and UW community?
UWave Radio provides UW Bothell and the surrounding Bothell community access to community radio, a space where community members can voice their opinions; share their thoughts, and where different groups can collaborate across one unifying platform, Low-Power FM radio. Our mission statement perfectly sums up our contribution to the community,
“UWave Radio is the campus-based community station of the Bothell area and beyond. We are a center for community engagement, a hub for underrepresented voices and music, an environment for professional development, and a catalyst for social justice.”
Why is this campaign important to the organization?
The amount raised will contribute to the funding we need in order to hire a full time professional staff member as station manager, to build the FM radio tower and hear us on 104.9FM the space that has already been reserved for UWave Radio. Not only is this campaign a major step for us financially, but it's also an important factor in spreading the word about this opportunity to the surrounding community, and solidify the final preparations of getting hearing us on the dial at 104.9FM. So we would like to invite you to join this journey with us, as we strive to get UWave Radio on the airwaves!
What do we hope to accomplish through the success of the campaign?
Through the success of this campaign we hope to not loose the opportunity to broadcast on the FM dial. It has been over 50 years since the last cohort of radio waves were given to community broadcasters. The opportunity to apply for and receive an FCC license is rare and the chance to establish a radio station from the ground up may never happen again. This is your chance and our chance to create a radio station that serves our community in a way that we know no commercial radio or top 40 stations can do. Help us make this happen for everyone!
These few weeks have been an enjoyable experience for all of us at UWave Radio. We couldn't have done it without the support of the community and donors like you! UWave Radio truly appreciates the generosity of the supporters and the help we received from USEED. The money we raised in these weeks will go to funding UWave by purchasing new equipment, and funding the project for building our FM tower. We would like to keep you updated in the future to let you know how UWave Radio is operating, so be sure to check back here!
Thank you for your support!
With the end of the campaign coming soon, we would like to thank our supporters for contributing to this great effort. A campaign over the summer can be challenging, bu that of course makes us stronger. We would also like to thank USEED for helping to make this campaign possible! But there is still 5 days left so be sure to share this campaign with friends and family!

Most of all we would like to thank our supporters, and those who have shared this campaign.
