We are the University of Washington Cheerleading team. As representatives of the university, our main goal has always been to support UW Athletics by cheering on the sidelines and leading our crowd in a game-day setting. As a university that values tradition, we seek to compete at UCA College Nationals in Orlando, Florida in January 2015 and rejoin the ranks of competitive teams. The opportunity to travel to Florida and compete alongside other motivated athletes is a dream our team shares and wishes to make a reality.

In order to accomplish our dream, we are hoping to raise $25,000 to help send the University of Washington Cheerleading team to UCA Nationals. These funds will help cover the costs of flights, transportation, food, and lodging for the members traveling and competing. We are so excited for this opportunity and we need your help to make this a reality. The University of Washington is a world-renowned university for academics and as both students and athletes, it has been challenging to focus on fundraising in the past due to academics being our first priority. This year our team is determined to compete at nationals and your support will allow us to remain committed students while giving us the chance to showcase our talent in a new way.

Raising these funds will give our team the opportunity of a lifetime. Competing at UCA Nationals is something every collegiate cheer team strives for and this year our team has the determination and talent to get there. Our team is very passionate about cheerleading and the ability to travel to nationals would allow us to push ourselves to the next level as athletes and competitors. For our greater community, we think competing at UCA Nationals would help put UW Cheer back on the map as a competitive program. We take pride in representing our university and want to make sure the spirit program can be recognized for its athletic accomplishments. By competing at UCA Nationals, UW can become a school that other young athletes desire to attend. We want to advance our impact on the university to continue to make UW proud of our team. Competing at UCA Nationals is a way of showing not only our university, but also the world how technically difficult cheerleading is and that it should be respected as a sport. We want those outside of the cheer world to understand why people are so passionate about this sport and just how challenging and amazing it truly is.

Ultimately, our team wants to not only be the best athletes and representatives of UW that we can be, but we also wish to be the best students at a top-ranked university. That’s where you come in: your contribution will relieve the stress of balancing a time-intensive job to fund this trip and instead allow us to concentrate on first, academics and second, athletics.

HOMECOMING WEEK!!!

Published on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 at 06:21 AM (PST)
Homecoming week is in full force for the UW Spirit program. During our practices we have had the honor of welcoming back alumni of all generations. The middle of week 3 means we are a little over halfway done with our fundraising campaign! Because of generous contributions we have raised $13,290, over half of our goal to send the UW Coed Team to Nationals!

The University of Washington prides itself on the traditions that we all carry very close to our hearts. Over the course of this program’s history, traditions have shaped who we are and why we are known. Dances like “Victory” and “Tequila”, the “Surfboard”, and the legendary “Husky Hips” have become a signature of our program.

Our hope is that one day competing nationally will be a part of the same traditions we know and love.   Watching as friends reconnect and reminisce on past memories during homecoming week, we all take a step back and realize that we are apart of a new generation of athletes who have the chance to make our own memories and leave a little piece of ourselves behind. With your help, we can start a new tradition, and bring UW Cheer to national prominence.  Thank You for all the Support!
